Reference for how bidding, payouts, and fees work on both sides of a deal. See How it works for the short version.
Fees
Bid incrementEvery bid must beat the current price by at least $1
Bidder fee2% of every bid or top-up, charged as an amount on top of it the moment you place it. Non-refundable, whether that money ends up winning or not
KOL fee10% of the winning amount, taken from the KOL's payout per batch as it's claimed. Never charged to the bidder
RefundsAlways 100% of what you bid (not counting the bidder fee already paid at bid time), whether you lost fairly or the KOL declined/failed/was found in violation
For bidders
Bidding
Minimum bidAt least $1 more than the current price
Staying in the leadOutbid? Your funds stay in escrow for the whole round, so you can top up the difference anytime instead of being refunded and re-paying from scratch. The 2% fee only applies to the new top-up amount, not your whole position again
Group bidsInvite friends or a community to chip in on your bid. Each contribution is tracked and refunded separately, so you don't have to trust a single wallet with everyone's money
If you don't win
OutbidYour full bid is refunded once the round closes. The 2% fee you already paid at bid time isn't refunded, but nothing further is ever taken from you
Nobody claims the spotRound just closes with zero claims, nothing charged to anyone
If you win
The KOL has 12 hours to confirm they've applied your content, or decline it outright.
They confirmTheir content-hold period starts. You don't pay anything further, you just wait it out while kol.rent checks their profile against what they applied
They decline, or never respondYou're refunded in full, no fee taken. You'll get a notification and claim the refund yourself with one click, this manual step mirrors how the real on-chain escrow will require your own wallet to sign for it
A violation is found mid-hold and never resolvedYou're refunded for whichever batches the KOL hadn't kept their end of the deal for yet. Any batch already claimed before the violation stays paid to the KOL
Reporting a violationThink the KOL isn't holding up their end? File a report from your winning bid. kol.rent runs an automated check immediately and an admin reviews the ticket
For KOLs
Listing a spot
Getting spotsVerify with X to unlock four rentable spots on your profile: banner, avatar, bio, and pinned post
Per-spot settingsSet a floor price, how long the auction runs, and how long you'll keep the winning content up, independently for each spot
RelistingOnce a round finishes, however it finishes, paid out, refunded, or nobody bid, the spot goes back to unlisted. You have to come back and list it again yourself, it doesn't relist automatically, and it can't be relisted while a round is still running or unsettled
Confirming a win
Once a round ends, you have 12 hours to respond before it auto-declines.
ConfirmChecks your live X profile against what was submitted, then that live snapshot becomes the baseline your content is checked against for the rest of the hold
DeclineFor content you never applied or don't want on your profile. The bidder is refunded in full, no fee, and the spot goes back to unlisted
Never respondAuto-declines after 12 hours, same outcome as declining yourself
Getting paid
Payout batchesOnce confirmed, your payout unlocks progressively in batches across your hold period, not one lump sum at the end
Automated checksYour live profile is checked against the baseline constantly for the whole hold
A failed checkStarts a grace window, max 30 minutes, to restore the content before anything escalates. If it's still failing once that expires, your remaining unclaimed batches are paused and it's flagged for review
ClaimingClaim each batch individually as it unlocks, or claim everything that's currently ready in one click
Platform fee10% is taken from each batch as you claim it, never upfront
Wrapping upOnce every batch is claimed, the round closes and the spot frees itself for relisting automatically, no extra confirmation step needed
