How it works
kol.rent turns your X profile into revenue. Auction your banner, avatar, bio, or pinned post, and the highest bid wins.
- 1
A KOL lists four spots
Once a KOL verifies with X, kol.rent creates four rentable spots on their profile: banner, avatar, bio, and pinned post. For each one, the KOL sets a floor price, how long the auction runs, and how long they'll keep the winning content up afterward.
- 2
Claim a spot with a bid
Pay at least the current price plus $1, plus a 2% platform fee on top of that, and submit what you want shown for their banner, avatar, bio, or pinned post. Your bid moves into escrow, not to the KOL yet (see the fee schedule in Docs).
- 3
Get outbid? Top up and take the lead back
If someone tops your bid, you're not paid out immediately. Your funds stay in escrow for the whole round, so you can top up the difference anytime to reclaim the lead. You don't have to do it alone either: invite friends or a whole community to chip in on your bid, each contribution tracked separately. If you don't end up winning, everyone gets refunded once the round closes (see the fee schedule in Docs).
- 4
Confirm it, hold it up, get paid in batches
Once the round ends, the KOL has 12 hours to confirm they've applied the winning content, or decline it and refund the buyer in full. Confirming starts the hold period: they keep the content live for their set hold period while kol.rent constantly checks it against X, with a grace window if a check ever fails. Payouts don't wait until the end either, they unlock in batches as the hold period runs, and the KOL claims each one as it becomes available. If a violation is ever found and never resolved, kol.rent makes the final call on whether the KOL gets paid or the buyer gets refunded (see the fee schedule in Docs).
- 5
The KOL relists it
Once a round fully resolves, paid out, refunded, or nobody bid, the spot goes back to unlisted. The KOL has to come back and list it again themselves before anyone can bid on it, it doesn't relist automatically, and it can't be relisted at all while a round is still running or its winner hasn't been settled yet.
