kol.rent

Terms & Conditions

Last updated September 2026.

kol.rent is in beta.

Features, fees, and behavior can change, and bugs can happen.

1. What kol.rent is

kol.rent is a marketplace where a buyer can bid to place content, a banner, avatar, bio, or pinned post, on a verified KOL's X profile for a set period. Listings, bids, escrow, and payouts are governed by an on-chain Solana program, not by a company-run ledger. These terms cover your use of the kol.rent website and the marketplace it operates.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract to use kol.rent, and you're responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you, including any restrictions on cryptocurrency use in your jurisdiction. A KOL must connect and verify a real X account to list a spot; a buyer needs a connected Solana wallet to bid.

3. How bidding and escrow work

A buyer’s bid is held in an on-chain escrow vault, not paid to the KOL, from the moment it’s placed. Outbidding an existing leader doesn’t return their funds immediately, instead they stay in escrow so the outbid buyer can top up and reclaim the lead. If a round closes with you not the winner, your held funds are refundable. A backer can add funds to someone else’s bid; that contribution is tracked and refunded separately from the bid opener’s own funds. Full mechanics are in How it works and Docs.

kol.rent never takes custody of your funds. Every bid, top-up, refund, and payout moves through this Solana escrow program, code that runs on-chain and enforces its own rules, not a company-held account. kol.rent’s role is to run the marketplace on top of it: verifying KOLs, checking that won content stays live, and operating the oracle and admin functions the smart contract calls for. kol.rent can’t unilaterally move your funds out of escrow, and doesn’t hold a balance on your behalf at any point.

4. Fees

A 2% fee is charged on every bid and top-up, taken at deposit time and never refunded, regardless of whether that bid goes on to win. Once a round closes with a winner and the KOL confirms and keeps the content live for the required hold period, kol.rent takes 10% of the winning bid from the KOL's payout; the buyer is never charged more than their bid plus the 2% deposit fee. Fees are set in the on-chain program's configuration and may change; the current rates are also listed in Docs.

5. KOL confirmation and content hold

Once an auction ends, the winning KOL has a fixed window to confirm they've applied the winning content or decline it. Declining, or letting the window lapse, refunds the buyer in full with no fee retained. Confirming starts a hold period during which the KOL commits to keeping the content live; payouts release progressively in batches across that period rather than all at once.

6. Content violations

kol.rent checks a KOL's live profile against what won, both on a recurring schedule and in response to a buyer's report, for as long as a hold period runs. If the content no longer matches, the KOL gets a grace window to restore it before it's treated as a violation. An unresolved violation is resolved either automatically or by kol.rent's review, and can result in a batch's funds being refunded to the buyer instead of paid to the KOL. A KOL with a pattern of violations across multiple campaigns may be reviewed or restricted from listing further spots.

7. Refunds

Funds tied to a losing bid, a declined round, or an unresolved content violation are refundable to the wallet that funded them, executed by the on-chain escrow program and triggered by the affected party or, as a backstop, automatically once the applicable window passes.

8. Content you submit

You're responsible for any content, text or images, you submit with a bid, and you confirm you have the rights to use it. You won't submit content that's illegal, infringing, or that kol.rent's moderation flags as violating its content policy. kol.rent can remove or reject content that violates these terms even after a bid has been placed, subject to the applicable refund rules above.

9. Prohibited conduct

You won't use kol.rent to launder funds, evade sanctions, manipulate an auction through coordinated or sham bidding, exploit a bug in the smart contract or website in bad faith, or interfere with the marketplace's normal operation. kol.rent can suspend an account or a spot's listing for violating this section.

10. No investment advice

Nothing on kol.rent is investment, financial, or legal advice. Bidding on a spot is a purchase of an advertising placement, not a financial product, and past pricing on the marketplace is not a signal of future value.

11. Disclaimers

kol.rent is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. kol.rent doesn't guarantee the website, the on-chain program, or Solana itself will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and doesn't guarantee a KOL will honor a winning bid beyond what the smart contract itself enforces.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, kol.rent and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for losses arising from smart contract bugs, blockchain network failures, wallet compromise, or third-party services (including X's API) that kol.rent depends on but doesn't control. kol.rent's total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you actually paid to kol.rent in the transaction giving rise to the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify kol.rent against claims, losses, and expenses arising from your use of the marketplace, your submitted content, or your violation of these terms.

14. Changes to these terms

kol.rent can update these terms as the product changes, especially during the beta period described in the disclaimer above. Continuing to use kol.rent after an update means you accept the revised terms.
